This meeting was held one week late because of inclement weather on March 4th, 2008.
The meeting was opened at 7:19 PM by Poonam Jain.
Annual Report
Poonam Jain presented the Annual Report to the assembled board and membership. Her written report will be publicly posted on the website along with the minutes under “Administrative Items”.
Meeting Minutes
The meeting minutes for the February 21st meeting were reviewed. After minor corrections, they were approved on a voice vote.
Board Election
Three members of the current board were standing for election, unopposed by any alternative candidates this year. Out of 23 ballots cast, Poonam Jain won 23 votes, Russ Masinelli won 23 votes, and Nelson Grman won 21 votes. One write in votes each was cast for Paul Skeans, already a member of the board, and John Caldieraro. The results of the election were formally announced at the meeting.
IDNR Grant Application
The grant application to the IDNR for land acquisition funds has been submitted to the IDNR, on the county's behalf. Unfortunately there are still several details to work out. Jarid Ott has been working to answer IDNR requests for further information. There may be a walk through of the area, similar to the walk through with George Camille. The final announcement of grant awards may not be known until later this autumn.
Treasurer Report
Full details deferred until next month.
Worden-Staunton Trail
The Worden to Staunton trail has been contracted out and is expected to be finished by the end of this June.
Trivia Night Fundraiser
William Vogt has tentatively arranged for a trivia night on April 19th, 2008. Details are still a little in the air, but plans currently are for it to be held at the Staunton Country Club.
Homecoming Stand
We have an opportunity to set up a stand at the Staunton Homecoming to raise money and advertise the ITS. Ray Duda will talk with FNB about getting a tent and we will need to find a spot at the Homecoming. This will require permission from the firemen.
Other News
The Tour de Coal has had several meetings already. Their ride is planned for September 27, 2008.
We plan to help with the ITS Historical Society's 2009 Annual Meeting. They are currently planning to hold their meeting here in Staunton in April of 2009.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:34 PM.
Respectfully submitted, Bryan Siegfried
