ITS Trail Committee

Approved Meeting minutes of February 21st

The meeting was called to order at 7.15 P.M. Meeting minutes of last meeting on February 7th, 2006 were approved.

Russ Masinelli’s resport: Contacted mayors of Sawyerville and Gillespie. The mayor of Gillespie- Josh Ross will co-chair sub-committee with Russ. Mayor of Sawyerville- Phyllis Spurney has indicated that we should go to the Sawyerville City meeting to inform them of our plans.

MCTO plans and recommendations from 2002 were presented by Poonam Jain to Russ Masinelli. Also letter form Hulda Black was mentioned. Grman asked masinelli to contact county board to see if the whole length of the county trail could be obtained. Grman mentioned that people in Springfield felt that this could be accomplished and would be a great idea. Also cities of Gillespie and Sawyerville could co-sponsor this trail. Russ will have information from Railroad by next meeting.

Caldieraro mentioned Mickey Robinson- Coal County Chamber of Commerce expressed interest in helping us bring the rail.

Poonam Jain presented the report of the publicity sub-committee. She welcomed Dr. Bryan Siegfried to the publicity sub-committee. She mentioned that a web-site - its-trail.org has been set up by Dr. Siegfried. She reiterated that information about the trail meetings will be sent through regular mailings by the publicity sub-committee. Approved meeting minutes will be put up on the web-site. Tour De Donut information should be completely separated from the its-trail web-site.

Nelson mentioned that the Tourism committee may be able to supply some small funds for start-up monies.

John Caldieraro said that he was primarily interested in the Tour De Donut and therefore, some one else may want to chair the fund-raising sub-committee.

It was clarified that the Tour De Dount sub-committee has been deleted from our charter and is now a sub-committee of the Tour De Donut committee of the Chamber of Commerce.

Lux talked about the formation of a small board to oversee functions of sub-committees. Nominations should be thought of and presented through the next 3 weeks to Nelson Grman.

Next meeting will be March 14th at 7.15 P.M. At this meeting, the primary item on the agenda will be formation of a board.
