ITS Trail Committee Minutes October 2nd, 2007 Board Members Present: Poonam Jain, Bryan Siegfried, Russ Masinelli, John Fritsche, Jarid Ott, Nelson Grman. Members excused: Larry Leone, Bill Napper, Paul Skeans The meeting was opened at 7:20 by Poonam Jain Application for Grant Status The discussion with Steve Gonzalez, the grants manager for IDNR, on September 18th, 2007 in Litchfield was reviewed. Mr. Gonzalez recommended that we would not need a feasibility study for the bike path grant. We will work on an IDNR bike path grant proposal. Jarid Ott has already created maps for the ITS Trail Committee, and these will be used in the grant proposal. Bryan Siegfried will work on evaluation of the project. Other tasks will be assigned at a later point. Our goal is to have the grant proposal ready by Thanksgiving. The grant application is freely downloadable from the IDNR website. Mr. Gonalez also suggested that we submit the application online. Membership Report Jarid Ott reported that for the 2006-2007 period we have 78 members, 6 donors, and 26 sponsors. For the 2007-2008 period we have mailed out 35 requests for renewals and received 23 positive responses. The Macoupin County Economic Development Council has renewed at a higher level. Members Appreciation Picnic Articles to be posted in the Staunton Star-Times and the Kwik Konnection. We will also notify other local papers and news sources. After some discussion, the menu will be brats, hot dogs, chips, and drinks. The tasks and food items were divided among the board members. John Caldieraro offered to purchase the bicycle which will be raffled off at the picnic. Nelson reminded us on Staunton City policies of proper cleanup and care of the facilities. We plan to invite speakers, such as Andy Manar and other local governmental representatives. Cards will be sent to donors and sponsors. The meeting was adjourned at 8:38 PM.
